Project on integration of ICT into early childhood education

In October 2022, BSW/CODEUS completed the renovation and installation of education equipment into the technology-enhanced, play-based Kwabenya Model Kindergarten in Accra, Ghana. The model kindergarten is part of a pilot project on integration of ICT into early childhood education as envisaged by the new play-based curriculum of Ghana.

The model kindergarten was officially launched on site by His Excellency, the President of Ghana, and the Honorable Minister of Education on February 14, 2023, where both expressed their will to create similar centres in other regions of Ghana.

Both distinguished guests envisaged that the kindergarten and its facilities/resources would serve as a centre of excellence and a venue for teacher training.

The kindergarten’s facilities provide a space for modelled teaching, professional development activities, peer-to-peer coaching and an education setting to experiment with resources and teaching ideas. As the CODEUS project continues to grow and develop in Ghana, it has become evident that facilities like the Kwabenya Atomic Kindergarten are an essential component of ongoing teacher professional development and hence quality teaching and learning.

" … I congratulate the government of Ghana not only on the opening of this wonderful facility but also on their progressive and contemporary recognition of the importance Early Childhood Education." Ms. Alyona Volodina, General Manager of CODEUS.

"…. Education is the most effective way to change the fortunes of our continent and country, and to join the group of developed nations and countries.” His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of Ghana.
